Unless an IC test subcontractor can distribute its expertise across many factories, it’s simply not possible for that subcontractor to be an expert at everything.
With 7 different factories with test floors, STATS ChipPAC is able to excel in
all areas of test by distributing the responsibilities to become the best across all its factories. STATS ChipPAC does this by establishing each of its factories as a “Center of Excellence,” thus enabling each factory to focus its engineering resources on becoming the best in a specific area of IC testing while the other factories focus on the other areas of test.
It then uses the principle of “copy exact” to deploy the best practices from each Center of Excellence to other factories to accommodate overflow demand for a particular test service or to honor a customer preference to do all their testing at a single STATS ChipPAC factory or specific STATS ChipPAC factories.

SCS and the TDC: Testing at the Digital Frontiers of Speed
In general, STATS ChipPAC Singapore (SCS) specializes in testing high-end devices of all types, except memory which can be tested at STATS ChipPAC Shanghai (SCC) and Korea (SCK) which are Centers of Excellence for memory devices. The main reason for this distinction is because the
Test Development Center (TDC) and Test R&D both reside in Singapore.
When challenging new RF, mixed signal or digital devices are offloaded into the Singapore factory, product engineers will involve the TDC experts and Test R&D experts to develop a test solution for this new device and then optimize it for robust high-volume production before deploying it to any other factory that is scheduled to test this same type of device.
As an established Center of Excellence for high-end digital devices, SCS has robust production solutions in place in Singapore, and at other STATS ChipPAC factories, for testing digital devices at the current frontiers of speed, but it also has all the in-house talent and capabilities to push that frontier ahead as far as required by its customers.
High Throughput
Because of its focus on high-end devices, STATS ChipPAC Singapore (SCS) also has the highest proportion of testers with high number of digital channels. Currently, SCS has digital test platforms with over 1200 digital channels that can support high parallel testing of digital devices. These test platforms can be expanded further with additional digital channels to enable even more test sites and attain even higher levels of parallel testing.
With the Test Development Center (TDC) onsite at SCS, the TDC group can develop or enable multi-site, digital test solutions at any multiple required by the customer, with the only constraint being the resources available in the tester to support multi-site testing.
