QFN Design Kit
STATS ChipPAC now offers its Quad-Flat No-Lead (QFN) design kit for Agilent Technologies’ Advanced Design System (ADS) electronic design automation (EDA) software. The QFN design kit gives ADS users access to STATS ChipPAC's QFN package models in five standard sizes:
QFN is the package of choice for RF and Power applications due to its small chip scale design and body sizes, however, these applications are also highly sensitive to package performance and package environment especially at high frequencies. As a result, accurate design modeling is extremely important. It is helpful for customers to know ahead of time how different packages will perform in certain environments and scenarios.
The ADS design kit provides proven accurate QFN models, thus eliminating a protracted trial and error approach to design modeling, while reducing cycle time and time-to-market. The ADS design kit allows designers to rapidly characterize circuits in the presence of actual STATS ChipPAC QFN packages and actively perform various modeling scenarios using different QFN package configurations. The ADS design kit enables mutual STATS ChipPAC and Agilent customers to significantly improve their design quality and time-to-market by allowing designers to quickly explore various design specifications with accurate package information and implement optimized IC designs, providing a greater range of choices and more flexibility when designing QFN packages. All die are scalable and their material properties can easily be modified. The QFN design kit also includes scalable models for board via arrays. Illustration shows close up of QFN model in the kit
STATS ChipPAC's ADS design kit for QFN is available in ADS release versions 2009U1 and 2011, and is compatible with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
